My dad, Merv, is a humble man, he has worked hard since the age of 13 when he left school and is currently still fighting off retirement as a plasterer. He is a voracious reader but was not really happy that I told him I was leaving a full time job to concentrate on my writing for a while [He has a valid point says my negative bank balance and uninspired dinner options]. I was a bit put out by his opposition but I understood where he was coming from. I just thought that I placed more value in being artistic and he didn't.
Another freedom drive let’s see where we end up and the girls and I have found ourselves up in amongst the clouds of Mount Alexander. It was so grand up there in that environment, engulfed in cloud, the silence and natural rock and landscape made it feel like we were in a movie, like something supernatural – it was definitely super nature in any case.
This weekend, in one of our let’s just drive somewhere freedom moments, the girls and I happened across Lavendula Swiss Italian Farm, just north of Daylesford. It was blissful. We had plenty of space and opportunity for photos among the colourful leaves of Autumn and fell in love with the resident pig. We had lavender cupcakes and scones, hot chocolates and coffee at the gorgeous café on site. I have visions of coming here in the Spring and spending a whole day meditating and writing. I absolutely adored it.
